Organizations, large and small have a number of areas to cover when running their businesses. Those include HR, Finance, Legal, and many more. Small businesses usually outsource those activities to service providers or consultants who are specialized in these areas. Large corporations have dedicated teams to cover these areas so that other teams can focus on core business activities. On this page, you will be able to explore our vision around those support services within the Nangu ecosystem.

Nangu's vision of support services

At Nangu, we strive to conduct business activities in accordance with our values and agreements defined in the Nangu Constitution. We strive this for activities within our network but also for activities outside the network. Because of this, we believe that it is essential, that certain services are available to every member of the Nangu network. Nangu Support is the umbrella term for organizations that exist to support the economic, social, and ecological activities within the Nangu network. These organizations are independently operated and enter a social franchise agreement with Nangu Soul. Key areas of responsibility for those support enterprises are: HR, Legal, Governance, IT, Education, and the Nangu Learning Journey. Entities within the Nangu network can call upon support from the Nangu Support organizations. Support services are delivered at an internal "Nangu Fee" for Nangu businesses. These support organizations are free to offer these services to outside customers as well.

Economic Activities

The following areas are distinct areas of responsibility for Nangu Support organizations. Initially, we are consolidating several high-level areas of responsibility into one larger Nangu Support organization. In the long-term, they might grow into their own enterprises (e.g. IT).

HR, Legal, Governance

This team is responsible for providing services to all members of the network in the context of HR, Legal and Governance. Stewards wanting to hire workers on their farm, the Steward Cooperative having governance questions or anyone in the network having legal questions or even disputes can call for support of this team.

IT

The IT team is providing essential IT services to all of Nangu. This includes foundational services such as Email and Internet connectivity, but expands broadly beyond this as well. Think of tooling for stewards to measure land health or monitoring forrest succession over several years.

Nangu Learning Journey, Education

The Nangu Learning Journey is a key component of how we believe that Nangu can become a thriving ecosystem of small purpose driven organisations. This team focuses on iterating over the learning journey, adding or removing course material and incorporating feedback from within the network so that the program stays current and relevant. In addition, this team is responsible for training the trainers.
